A home we built for ourselves

At the edge of Anjaneri Mountain, in Trimbakeshwar, Nashik, stands the one house we designed with no brief but our own. Villa Reya was built for slowness, far from the hurry of the city where the practice spends its days. Bedrooms open onto two infinity pools; the living space is held in glass, so the mountain is always in the room; a bar lounge waits for the evening. A bathtub is carved from a single slab of marble, and floors of clay and mud keep the house honest rather than polished. With open lawns around it and the Anjaneri waterfalls always within hearing, it is our quiet argument that luxury and landscape can live in balance.
